Hawke’s Bay power consumers to receive $240 dividend payment from Trust

Power consumers in Hawke’s Bay will receive an annual dividend payment of $240 from the Hawke’s Bay Power Consumers’ Trust (HBPCT) for the 2023/2024 financial year.

The dividend will be paid into consumers’ bank accounts in late November.

The HBPCT said in a statement today that this payment was confirmed at the Trust meeting held on Monday 14 August. The dividend payment is inclusive of imputation credits and limited to a maximum of three payments per consumer.

“Trustees are pleased to announce the payment remains in line with the 2022/2023 payment, despite the severe impact of Cyclone Gabrielle in February” said Trust Chair,Diana Kirton.

At the HBPCT annual public meeting on 26 July, the Trust announced they had received notice of a dividend payment of $15.8million from Unison Networks Ltd (UNL). This brought the total direct financial benefit consumers have received from Trust ownership since 1999 to around $250 million.

The statement today said the cut-off date for determining who is eligible for the dividend is 30 September 2023. After that date, all Hawke’s Bay power consumers connected to Unison’s electricity network will receive a unique 6-digit pin number allowing them go online to check their direct credit registration details, or register for the first time. The process will be widely advertised from October.
