Clean sweep for Labour in Hawke’s Bay electorates
Hawke’s Bay is bathed in red tonight as Labour looks set to have a clean sweep in the Napier, Tukituki, Ikaroa-Rawhiti and Wairarapa electorates.
Stuart Nash has retained his Napier seat, while Meka Whaitiri will almost certainly be the Ikaroa-Rawhiti MP once again.
The big upset of the evening is in the Tukituki electorate where third-time candidate Anna Lorck of Labour has finally beaten National’s Lawrence Yule by a slim margin.
In Wairarapa, Labour List MP Kieran McAnulty has justified his hard parliamentary work by storming to victory over National newcomer Mike Butterick.
