Taste the Summer at Hawke’s Bay Outdoor Kitchen

A renowned Hawke’s Bay restaurant has opened its doors for unique al-fresco dining, with the launch of its stunning summer kitchen for 2020.

St Georges Restaurant is set amongst the vines. Nestled a stone’s throw from the restaurant's abundant organic gardens, the summer kitchen and outdoor bar provides an interactive, informal dining experience for customers, and a chance to see award-winning chef, Francky Godinho, in action.

Renowned for its sustainable approach and abundance of home-grown ingredients, St Georges’ menu is always designed around its seasonal produce.

The new outdoor kitchen will serve a menu that changes regularly, incorporating smoky grilled beef – raised exclusively for the restaurant by St Georges – and local organic chicken, as well as vegetarian options. Freshly-harvested spray-free vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus and many varieties of salad add colour and crispness, and there are shared plate options too.

Francky says the outdoor dining concept works well in Hawke’s Bay, where the summers are long and lingering. Children and groups are well catered for. “We’re always excited to launch our summer kitchen, but this year it feels extra special,” says Francky.

“It’s been a tough few months, not just for hospitality but for our suppliers, our customers, and our friends. It feels like time to enjoy a beer and a bite from the grill, good conversation and welcoming service.”

The outdoor kitchen and patio area, naturally shaded by established vines and trees, will regularly feature live music, providing a relaxed, laid-back vibe to complement the surroundings and of course, the wonderful food.

“Our outdoor BBQ menu is low fuss, fun and a little bit different, all without compromising on the expectations of five-star dining.”

The summer kitchen is open each weekend throughout the season, offering a variety of menu options and flexibility for dietary needs, thanks to its onsite acre of freshly grown produce. With considerable planting taking place in the lead-up to the busiest months of the year, the team looks forward to once again bringing its customers an abundance of colourful food.

In addition to the summer kitchen, St Georges is also taking bookings for its popular Christmas Day lunch. The restaurant will be open from 11am-2pm, offering a delicious, seasonal four course menu which is priced at $149 per head.
