Long-time Affco employee confirmed as victim of workplace incident
Police have named the man who died as a result of a workplace incident at Affco’s Wairoa plant on Wednesday last week.
He was 61-year-old Alfred William Edwards of Wairoa.
The Wairoa Star reported Mr Edwards was a long-standing employee at the Affco processing plant.
The paper quoted Tapuae Rugby Club spokesman Frank King saying Mr Edwards made a good
contribution to Tapuae and Wairoa rugby as a player, coach and administrator.
Mr Edwards was also a respected player for Mahia Rugby Football Club.
Police said their sympathies were with Mr Edwards’ whanau and his death had been referred to the Coroner.
The incident was also subject to a WorkSafe NZ investigation.
