Missing Hawke’s Bay hunter found dead
Police say they have located the body of missing Hawke’s Bay hunter Wayne McGillen in a crashed vehicle.
They have been appealing for sightings of 53-year-old Mr McGillen who was last seen on March 19 and did not return from a hunting trip a week ago as expected.
Police say they were alerted to a crashed vehicle on Lake Road, Tuai, in northern Hawke's Bay, yesterday afternoon.
A dead man was found in the vehicle.
While formal identification is yet to take place, police say they believe the man is Mr McGillen.
“Our thoughts are with Mr McGillen's family and loved ones at this tragic time,” police said in a statement.
“The matter will be referred to the Coroner.”
