Napier Tech Old Boys keeps title defence alive

Undefeated Christchurch's St Albans has qualified for tomorrow's 2019 NZCT National Club Cricket Championship 1v2 Final with a round to spare, after having cruised to a fourth straight win yesterday at Auckland's Cornwall Cricket Club.

Defending champions Napier Technical Old Boys meanwhile bounced back with a comfortable victory over Parnell to put themselves in second spot and in pole position to join St Albans in tomorrow's 1v2 title fight for the national crown.

With a superior net run rate, having opened the tournament with two landslide wins, the Jesse Ryder-coached "Texans" may have done enough already to shut out Dunedin's impressive Green Island side from the major Final.

Green Island also started this season's tournament strongly, but now find themselves in third spot after back-to-back losses in Rounds 3 and 4, after having been beaten by St Albans yesterday.

With wet weather hitting Auckland today, all fifth-round matches in the round robin have been delayed at Cornwall Park, with an update on the possibility of any play expected after lunch which will be taken at 12.30pm.
