Armed police and helicopter involved in search for wanted man in wider Hawke's Bay
Armed police and a helicopter are involved in the search for a man believed to be in the wider Hawke's Bay area.
A police spokeswoman said a number of resources have been deployed and staff are armed as a precaution.
"Police do not believe there to be an imminent risk to members of the public's safety."
It is understood the incident began in Flaxmere but has since spread across the region.
Flaxmere Primary School and Irongate Primary School were earlier locked down as a precaution but have since been reopened, police confirmed this afternoon.
