Bayview Four Square latest to be ram raided in Hawke's Bay

Bayview Four Square has become the third supermarket to be ram raided and damaged in less than three weeks.

A police spokesperson said they received a report of a burglary on Hill Road, Bay View, about 3.20am on Saturday morning.

In CCTV footage, three offenders can be seen raiding the store and stealing about $400 in cash, tobacco, lighters and chewing gum, before fleeing in a second vehicle.

The store manager, who did not wish to be named, told Hawke's Bay App it was the first time in the 20 years his family had owned the store, that anything like this had happened.

He said the incident had added a "lot of stress". "We stayed up through the night because we had to be ready in case they came back."

It follows two similar ram raids at Four Square Ahuriri in Napier on July 20 and Four Square Frimley in Hastings last Tuesday.

All three Four Square stores suffered significant damage during the raids.

The police spokesperson said enquiries will consider if the incidents are linked but at this stage, there is nothing to suggest that they are.
