Bellatino’s touches down at Hawke’s Bay Airport

Passengers flying in and out of Hawke’s Bay can now take a taste of the region with them, with the opening of the new Bellatino’s Aeroporto in the airport terminal.

The food lovers’ market will offer gourmet goods, fresh produce, and a range of artisan products. Owner Larni Wedd says Hawke’s Bay locals will recognise the names behind many of the goods instore.

“We like to say we’re a seven-day shop front for the Farmers’ Market, so the store will be full of all kinds of Hawke’s Bay goodness.”

“Travellers will find products from St Andrew’s Limes, Telegraph Hill, Bay Blueberries, and Maud & Harry’s. We’ll also be offering summer fruit, fresh bread and baked goods from Ya Bon, and a great selection of cheese and charcuterie – perfect for those arriving for a weekend getaway, or wanting to take a bit of Hawke’s Bay home with them.”

“We’re also hoping to add a range of top Hawke’s Bay wines and locally-brewed craft beers very soon.”

Hawke’s Bay Airport CEO Stuart Ainslie is pleased to welcome Bellatino’s to the airport, and says the retail partnership is a great fit for the redeveloped terminal.

“We wanted a retail partner who shared our ethos around sustainability and supporting local business, and Bellatino’s is a fantastic showcase of our local producers.”

“We’ve worked hard to create a distinctly Hawke’s Bay experience for passengers in our new terminal, and having Bellatino’s onboard really takes that to the next level.”

Mr Ainslie says the retail offering will complement the Bay Espresso café and Roosters bar.

“Both are iconic Hawke’s Bay businesses, and we’re so fortunate to have them come together in the heart of our terminal. It’s such a vibrant space, and we’re excited to share it with our visitors and our community.

The new Bellatino’s Aeroporto is located directly across from Bay Espresso and the unique fit out incorporates a vintage pickup truck that was restored by local enthusiasts Simon Moore and Neville Smith as part of the terminal redevelopment.

“We’ve been working hard over the past week to get the store ready, and we’re so excited to be welcoming customers in,” says Ms Wedd.

“It’s a big step but an amazing opportunity – both for our business and for the businesses on our shelves.”
