Central Hawke's Bay police warn of scams on Facebook Marketplace

Central Hawke’s Bay Police are advising people buying items through the Facebook Marketplace to be cautious.

Senior Constable Andy Walker says he has been made aware of two cases in the last month where people have purchased cellphones through Marketplace, and the phones haven’t arrived.

He says the buyers have gone back to revisit the page, but it has been closed down, or they have been blocked.

Mr Walker says people are getting more and more clever at scams, and it can be difficult to track down the seller.

He says he believes there are more cases of its kind, and encourages people to contact Police if they are a victim of a scam.
