Covid-19: 190 new Hawke's Bay cases

There are 190 new Hawke's Bay Covid-19 cases, and eight people in the region's hospital.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health said the region's cases were among 5549 new community cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand today. 

A further 11 Covid-related deaths have also been reported. 

Of the people whose deaths were reported today, two were from the Auckland region, one was from Waikato, one was from MidCentral, two were from Taranaki, one was from the Hutt Valley, three were from Canterbury, and one was from South Canterbury.

Two people were in their 60s, two were in their 70s, three were in their 80s and four were over 90. Of these people, five were male and six were female.

"This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them. Out of respect, we will be making no further comment on these deaths," a Ministry spokesperson said.
