Four cases of Covid-19 community transmission. What we know so far.

PM Jacinda Ardern and Dr Ashley Bloomfield have held an unexpected news conference at 9:15pm August 11th.

Here's what we know so far:

Four confirmed cases in one family from an unknown source.

First case is a person in their 50s from South Auckland who had symptoms and has been tested twice. Has no history of international travel.

All those family members in the same household were all tested.

All close contacts are doing 14 days of isolation, whether or not they returned a positive test.

Dr Bloomfield says the community testing centres in Auckland are stepping up their hours. DHBs will put up pop-up clinics.

He says everyone with cold symptoms to get a test - whether in Auckland or not.

He also encourages people to download the Covid-19 tracing app.

Auckland will move to level 3 at noon tomorrow for three days - until midnight on Friday.

All schools and childcare facilities will be closed from tomorrow morning except for the children of essential service workers.

Gatherings or more than 10 people are again restricted in Auckland.

The PM has stated that travelling into Auckland is not allowed unless you live there and are going home. If you are in Auckland now but don't live there you can leave, she says.

The boundary for the lockdown is the boundary of the Supercity. Police will work out road-blocks tomorrow.

The rest of the country outside of Auckland will move to level 2 for the same timeframe - noon tomorrow until midnight Friday.
