Haumoana Four Square hit by overnight ram raid

A Mazda Demio drove into the doors of the Haumoana Four Square during the early hours of this morning, allowing masked robbers to gain entry to the store.

Store Manager Michael Percy told Hawke's Bay App that the thieves were only inside the store for about two minutes and managed to take only cigarette lighters and vapes as they couldn't gain access to the cigarette locker.

Tyre marks can be seen on the floor of Haumoana Four Square following a ram raid overnight.

"We're fine, no one's hurt," Percy said.

"I mean things are always repairable, replaceable so that's what insurance is for. It's just a hassle, it takes up so much time dealing with insurance companies and people and, it's a hassle we didn't really need."

"But the community's really good, had them in here this morning and actually helped clean up which is really amazing. So it's cool having a community like that. Makes us feel better about it."

Police are appealing for information from the public, including sightings of a second vehicle (pictured) which is silver and has a distinctive white bumper.

"Around 12:30am, a vehicle was reported to have been used to gain entry to the store on Clifton Road and its two occupants have entered and taken cigarettes and lighters before leaving in a second car.

"If you have seen this vehicle and can assist Police in locating it or those involved, please contact 105 and quote file number 240420/5759."
