Hawke's Bay Hospital's AT&R ward reopens
Hawke’s Bay Hospital’s Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation (AT&R) Ward has been given the all clear to reopen following a Norovirus outbreak.
The ward was put into precautionary lockdown on May 17 following several patients and staff coming down with the virus.
A Hawke's Bay District Health Board spokeswoman said strict infection, prevention and control measures have been in place with no new cases reported since last Thursday, May 19.
"The ward was this morning undergoing a deep clean before reopening to patients and visitors this afternoon.
"Meanwhile, no further notifications of gastro outbreaks within the community have been reported to Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s public health unit."
Last week six childcare centres, as well as one school, had reported a vomiting and diarrhoea bug circulating.
People are reminded to follow good hand hygiene and stay home if sick and without diarrhoea for 48 hours. Cleaning household items were also very important to prevent bugs from spreading.
