Hawke's Bay police seek witnesses to Central Hawke's Bay logging truck crash

Hawke's Bay police are calling for witnesses after a logging truck rolled in Central Hawke's Bay.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Route 52, also known as Wimbledon Road, Porangahau.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) assisted with freeing the driver, who was initially pinned "under the cab" of the truck.

While the truck was heavily damaged, the driver was transported to Hawke's Bay Hospital with moderate injuries.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said they left the scene just after 10am, and arrived at hospital at 11.54am.

A Hawke's Bay District Health Board spokeswoman said a man in his 30s was discharged that day.

Police are now looking for anyone who was in the area between 8.30am and 8.45am that can assist with the enquiry.

"We are particularly keen to talk to the driver or occupants of a white ute seen in the area immediately before the crash."

Those who can assist are urged to contact police on 105 and quote file number: P045563986.
