Hawke's Bay Regional Council postpones coastal bird community workshops

The Hawke's Bay Regional Council has postponed its upcoming coastal bird community workshops due to Covid-19.

The workshops were due to be held this week on Thursday, Friday and Sunday to share the results of the region's first full coastal survey.

The HBRC commissioned the survey of native birds to create a regional-scale baseline measure of the diversity, distribution and abundance of birds along the coast.

A HBRC spokeswoman said with the new traffic light system coming in this week and a requirement for vaccine passes to be shown, they "do not feel prepared" to give the community an engaging, educational workshop with the restrictions.

They plan to hold the workshops in the first half of next year.

We apologise for the change but look forward to sharing the results with the community next year.

"Anyone interested in discussing the results and attending the workshops next year is asked to email Rebecca.ashcroft@hbrc.govt.nz."
