HazMobile collection postponed due to weather risk
A HazMobile event planned for tomorrow (Sunday) is being postponed due to the incoming weather warnings.
The warning is for the area north of Napier, however, Hastings city is still predicted to get rain and strong winds on Sunday.
Run by Hastings District and Napier City councils, the unpredictability of the weather, combined with the event being held using tarpaulins under gazebos, and handling hazardous materials, will make it difficult to operate the service in a safe manner for contractors, staff and the public.
In a statement the Hastings District Council says that both councils are keen to help the community with the safe disposal of hazardous waste, but the safety of all those involved with this event is a priority.
A new date for the event in the New Year is now being sought, and in the meantime people are encouraged to keep their hazardous items safely stored.
Those who have already registered for the event have been informed of the postponement.
