Mt Roskill homicide: Man arrested in Napier and charged with murder
A man has been arrested in Napier and charged with the murder of Brian James, who was shot dead in a house in Auckland’s Mt Roskill two days before Christmas.
Police say it is a "significant breakthrough" in the case.
Auckland City detectives, with assistance from Hawkes Bay officers, arrested the 33-year-old Auckland man, who was located at a Napier address overnight.
He has been charged with James' murder and with wounding with intent to injure in relation to two other victims of the alleged attack.
He is due to appear in the Hastings District Court this afternoon.
Police are still looking for a second offender and have obtained a Warrant to Arrest for Sam Junior Angelo Thomsen (pictured), known as Angelo.
His current location is unknown, and police said he is considered dangerous and should not be approached by the public. Anyone who sees him is urged to call 111 immediately.
Thomsen is 42 years old and has a tattoo on his right upper arm.
