Napier man's dream about winning the "big one" becomes a reality
A Napier man's dream of winning the "big one" has finally become a reality.
The man became an overnight millionaire in Saturday’s Lotto draw after purchasing the ticket at Greenmeadows New World.
The man, who did not wish to be named, usually waits to check his tickets so he can keep dreaming about the "big one" as long as possible but decided instead to check his ticket late on the night of the draw.
“When it came up ‘major prize’ I was pretty excited but had to wait until morning to get to the supermarket to find out how much I’d won,” he said.
“I was thinking a thousand dollars would be alright, and I couldn’t believe it when the zeros kept coming!”
"I went home and said to my dogs ‘I can’t believe it’s us guys!’”
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I’m going to make it work for me and my family in the long term – including the dogs!” he said.
Trying to stay cool after his win, the man celebrated with a humble cup of noodles.
“But those noodles tasted so much better than usual!” he laughed.
