Napier Police pursuit: 20-year-old faces slew of charges including kidnapping
A 20-year-old man at the centre of a police pursuit in Napier yesterday will appear in the Hastings District Court today.
A police spokesperson says he is facing charges of kidnapping, male assaults female, unlawfully takes motor vehicle, reckless driving and failing to stop.
"As this matter is before the court, we're unable to comment further at this stage", the police spokesperson said.
Earlier on Thursday, police said a vehicle of interest was located at about 2pm and signalled to stop. However, the vehicle fled from Police and a pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle was spiked and came to a stop on Willowbank Avenue before catching on fire.
No injuries were reported in the pursuit, which police said was "domestic" related. The three occupants of the vehicle were "safely" removed and the 20-year-old was taken into custody.
