Police seek help to identify man responsible for "frightening" attack on security guard

A security guard was hospitalised with serious injuries after being assaulted outside a new housing development in Flaxmere on Saturday morning. 

Now police are asking for the public's help to identify the offender.

The victim, a man in his 60s was on an overnight shift on Friday, September 3 and seated in his car on Tarbet Street near the intersection with Korowai Street, Detective Sergeant Heath Jones said. 

Sometime between 2am and 4am, an unknown male began shaking a fence.

"The security guard briefly spoke to the male, who then seriously assaulted him," Detective Sergeant Jones said. 

The guard was hospitalised with serious injuries and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Jones said this was a "frightening incident" for the guard involved.

"We extend our best wishes to him in his recovery from his injuries," he said.
