Several injured in serious crash, near Havelock North
Update: One person has died and three people have been taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital following a crash in Havelock North.
Emergency services were called to the scene on St Georges Road, Havelock North, about 4.30pm this afternoon.
The deceased was in one car, and three others injured were in a second car - one seriously injured, and two moderately injured, police confirmed.
The Serious Crash Unit is on scene and the road remains closed at this stage.
4.55pm: Several people have been injured in a serious crash in Havelock North this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene on St Georges Road, Havelock North, about 4.30pm this afternoon.
A police spokesperson says initial indications are at least three vehicles were involved and several people have been injured.
Traffic management is in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
The Serious Crash Unit will conduct a scene examination.
