Te Mata Four Square owners thank community for support following fire

The owners of a Four Square that caught fire earlier this week have thanked the community for their support.

Three fire appliances from Havelock North and Hastings responded to the fire at Te Mata Four Square, on Te Mata Road at 5.25pm on Tuesday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, Jayesh and Nilam Uka said the support "means so much".

"I am thankful that our team and customers were not hurt. I would like to thank my team members who did a fantastic job managing the situation and leading everyone who was in store at the time out to safety.

"My sincere thanks to all the firefighters, customers, our close community and fellow Store Owners for their overwhelming messages of support and offers to help. This means so much to me."

They said they were assessing the extent of the damage to determine when they will be able to open their doors again.

"We will keep you updated over the coming days and weeks. Thanks so much everyone."
