Magpies v Counties Manukau

When: Friday 12 August, 7:05pm

Where: Mclean Park, Napier

What: The Steelers head to McLean Park to play the mighty Hawkes Bay Magpies in round 2 of the 2022 Bunnings NPC. As the first home game of the season, the 7:05pm kick off game provides a great opportunity to get your mates together and enjoy the first NPC Ranfurly Shield challenge of the season.

HBAF - Che Fu and the Kratez: Return of the Navigator

When: Friday 12 August 2022 8:00pm – 11:00pm

Where: Toitoi - Hawke's Bay Arts & Events Centre, 101 Hastings Street South, Hastings

What: Che Fu is one of the best-selling hip hop acts to ever come out of Aotearoa, but his commercial success is only part of his achievement. Che Fu’s second album Navigator in 2001 featured tracks that have become Kiwi classics, crossing genres and bringing hip hop to the masses. Navigator is a bona fide classic, and we celebrate its twentieth anniversary with Che and his band, the Kratez, playing the album in its entirety. Don’t miss this concert honouring one of Aotearoa’s most eloquently soulful vocalists.

Pattern Printing on Textiles Workshop

When: Saturday 13th August, 10:30am - 3:30pm

Where: The CAN Workshop, Napier

What: Join Printmaker Lisa Feyen from Ink Moth Print Studio for a one-day play with creating repeat patterns on textiles, suitable for beginners and mixed abilities. You will learn how to design and carve a lino block, ink it up and print on fabric to create unique contemporary repeat pattern designs. All materials will be supplied, but you are encouraged to bring your own selection of plain or patterned fabric, or readymade items – plus scraps to practice on. Once you have learned how it all works, you can set up your own print studio at home with minimal equipment required. After the course, you will go home with your own designed and printed tea towel, and a satisfying pile of printed pieces for your sewing projects.
