Visiting skincare experts share tips to help Hawke’s Bay locals undo a summer’s worth of skin damage

Hawke’s Bay is a great place to live, but high sunshine hours, a dry windy climate and outdoor lifestyles play havoc with our biggest organ, the skin.

Helping clients achieve healthier skin whatever the season, is at the core of what the team at Simply Indulgent Skin and Beauty Company do. Led by owner Fiona Ritchie, the team is passionate about sharing their knowledge and providing the best treatments and skincare solutions.

The salon is hosting its first ever skin and wellbeing celebration open afternoon later this week and is inviting New Zealand skincare expert and founder of Prologic Skincare, Rachel Robertson to share her know-how and advice, including how to support the skin after a long hot summer, and prep for the cooler seasons ahead.

“We’re very lucky to have Rachel at our open day,” Fiona said. “She is one of New Zealand’s leading skincare experts. Her range, made in New Zealand, is vegan friendly and full of natural ingredients to support the skin’s natural barrier function, resulting in strong, healthy and youthful skin.

"Prologic places sustainability and ethical processes at the top of its core values, and the brand’s visual identity is created right here in Hawke’s Bay.”

Also joining as an open day special guest is Leanne Winsor, National Sales Manager for Dermalogica, who has a wealth of knowledge gained from many years in the skincare industry both in New Zealand and the United States.

In 2021, Simply Indulgent celebrates its ninth year in business in Taradale, next to the Four Square on Lee Road. Over that time, Fiona has grown her team, hiring homegrown talent from EIT’s beauty therapy courses and collecting a swag of awards along the way.

Fiona is dedicated to giving clients the very best facial treatments, tailored to their specific needs. Not one to rest on their laurels, the Simply Indulgent team invests in ongoing professional development to upskill and learn about new treatments, and Fiona puts enormous care into selecting the brands that they work with. The result? The best treatments and skincare solutions for the skin.

Everyone at Simply Indulgent is excited to welcome visitors to the open day says Fiona. “The team will be chatting about skincare, treatments, rituals, and the impact of lifestyle, giving treatment demonstrations and answering skincare concern questions.

“For our mini-facial demonstrations, we need live models and are taking bookings for anyone keen to try one of our treatments. Please get in touch with us at the salon by phone or Facebook (@simplyindulgenttaradale) to secure a spot.

“We are really looking forward to giving back to our community and supporting the Napier Family Centre. Everyone is welcome to come along, find out what we’re all about and how we can help create better skin. Whether it’s problems with acne, pigmentation, ageing, sensitivities or just a bit of pampering, our team and visiting experts have got the answer.

“We have combined our skincare and wellbeing celebration with a charity fundraiser. We simply ask that everyone who visits during the open day, to donate a gold coin to the Napier Family Centre cause,” Fiona said.

The Simply Indulgent Skin & Beauty Company open day will be held at 33 Lee Road, Taradale between 1pm to 5pm tomorrow (Friday, February 26). Entry by gold coin donation, proceeds to Napier Family Centre.
