What’s on in the Bay this weekend?

Welcome to the first weekend of March!

It looks like the weather is going to behave over the next couple of days, with just a bit of cloud around tomorrow.

As always, a reminder that the Things to do section, right here on the app, is the best place to start your weekend planning, but is you want a bit of inspiration, here are some of the highlights.

Saturday morning kicks off with the regular markets in Havelock North, Napier, Meeanee and Wairoa.

International Cultures Day is on at Cornwall Park in Hastings, and it’s always a great event, offering the chance to experience performances, food and fun from a wide range of different cultures living in Hawke's Bay.

Seaweek starts tomorrow and local events focused on enhancing our knowledge of the sea include a beach clean-up at Waitangi Regional Park and a guided walk around the Waitangi Wetland.

Also part of Seaweek tomorrow, Jake Brookie from the National Aquarium of New Zealand will be at the Taradale Library to read books and talk about interesting animal facts, in a presentation suitable for 5-to-9-year-olds.

There’s a Lymphoedema Information Day in Havelock North where a number of speakers talking about lymphoedema, including the surgical causes, treatment tools, compression and exercise advice.

Abbey Cellars has Beer Day Out, a chance to chill out to live music and sample some of the 20-plus beers that will be available on tap.

Music options on Saturday evening include a black tie ball at the Taradale Club where the band Men in Black will be playing mixed dance styles including ballroom, Latin, new vogue, swing, R'n'R, salsa and more.

Sammy Johnson is at the Cabana in Napier, and Bar 2013 in Hastings has Reggae Vibes.

On Sunday morning there are markets in Napier, Taradale and Hastings.

Lindisfarne College has its gala starting at 9am.

Sunday is Children’s Day and there are special deals to celebrate at Napier City Council facilities including the Aquatic Centre, Bay Skate and Par2 MiniGolf.

The MTG Hawke's Bay in Napier is also marking Children's Day with activities, crafts and interactive giant marble run, plus a $5 screening of the Kiwi classic movie Whale Rider in the Century Theatre.

Napier’s Laserforce also has a special Children's Day deal.

There’s more Seaweek activity on Sunday with Rocky Shore Exploration Day in Napier and a special Seaweek stories and crafts session at the Taradale library.

For some relaxing live music and some food and drink, there’s Hygge Sounds of Summer at Hygge at Clifton Bay, or Summer Sundaze at Abbey Cellars.
