What’s on in the Bay this weekend?

We hope you’re having a great Anzac Day.

With today being a public holiday, it’s strange to think the weekend is just around the corner, but it is – which is great!

So let’s have a look at what we’ve got to look forward to in the Bay over the next couple of days.

Between now and Sunday is your last chance to participate in The Great Kiwi Egg Hunt at the National Aquarium in Napier. It’s not just any egg hunt, it's an egg-streme search for 11 great Kiwi eggs amongst the exhibits – with prizes up for grabs.

Friday

Napier local, Iris Dunn, has been hard at work, crushing the music scene in LA. For one night only, see IRIS at the Urban Winery in Ahuriri for a special performance and catch a glimpse of this rising star.

Ashton Family Circus & Dylan Daisy's Magic Show are on all weekend at the Havelock North Domain. The circus bring grassroots entertainment for everyone to enjoy, free, at The Extravaganza Fair. The Karl Austin Experience is also part of the festivities.

Saturday

The 2019 New Zealand Single Speed Championships are on at Te Mata Peak on Saturday. Come along, and get all your Single Speed fix for the year. There’ll be all the craziness of previous editions of this event, including fancy dress, beer shortcuts, and some sweet trails and racing action.

There’s a Hypnotherapy for Weight Loss session in Napier on Saturday morning.

Another Saturday workshop is Printmaking with Gelatin – a fun creative class with Angela Lalonde at Creative Arts Napier. Gelatin printing is a form of mono-printing in which a gelatin slab is used as a printing `plate’ in conjunction with standard water-soluble printing inks to create images.

There’s also a 5Rhythms workshop in Havelock North. 5Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice, created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced around the world as a vehicle to enhance health and vitality and bring about real and lasting changes.

Experience Messy Church at St Martins Hall, Mayfair, Hastings. It’s fun for primary and intermediate aged kids and their families, with crafts and music to tell Bible stories, hosted by St Peter's Anglican Church.

The Big Bike Film Night is on at the MTG Hawke's Bay, Napier, on Saturday evening. The night showcases a collection that has everything a cycling-centric audience could want – action, drama, humour, and plenty of inspiration; the evening is going to be unashamedly, unequivocally, and utterly bike-alicious!

For music on Saturday nigth, Tim Hansen is at the Urban Winery in Ahuriri, Napier, while Adam Hattaway and The Haunters are at the Common Room in Hastings.

Sunday

The Taradale RSA’s indoor Sunday Market kicks off at 9am. If You want Quality Handmade goods, then this is the Market for you.

Meanwhile, the Ossian Street Vintage Market is a vintage and collectables market in Ahuriri.

On Sunday afternoon there’s the April Holiday Programme Lego Session at the Napier Library. It’s a free-form building session suitable for kids aged 5-12.

On Sunday evening, the Boston Tea Party featuring Chrissie Atkinson is on at the Napier Sailing Club, Ahuriri. Come along to enjoy acoustic guitar originals and jazz vocals with Dave Boston and Naomi Fenwick on guitar and Sean Boston on vocals. For a second half of jazz, blues and instrumentals, The Boston's are joined by Matiu Whiting bass, Cameron Budge drums and powerhouse vocalist Chrissie Atkinson.
