Police confronted, youths arrested in New Year’s Eve disorder at Waimarama

The window of a police car was smashed and two young people arrested as a New Year’s Eve gathering got out of hand at Waimarama last night.

Police say they are continuing their making enquiries following what they’re calling a “large disorder” at the beach settlement.

They were called to an address on Harper Road at about 10.10pm yesterday.

Police say when they arrived, officers were confronted by the group.

Objects were thrown and the window of a police vehicle was broken.

Two youths were arrested and will appear in Youth Court.

Police says they are continuing to investigate the incident and more arrests are expected.
