Rescue helicopter flew seven missions last week

The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter Service was called on to carry out seven missions last week.

The busiest day for the helicopter’s crew was Saturday, when they were called out three times.

Here are the flights the crew were involved in:

Monday 2nd March

3.45pm – Tasked by Air Desk to Mahia to attend to a male patient, who was involved in an altercation and sustained a head injury. He was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for follow up assessment and treatment.

Tuesday 3rd March

11.30am – Tasked by Air Desk to the Mohaka River where a teenage male, on a rafting trip, dislocated his knee. He was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for follow up assessment and treatment.

Thursday 5th March

1pm – Tasked by Air Desk to State Highway 5 at Te Pohue where a vehicle ran off the road and rolled down a bank. The male occupant, who was suffering minor head injuries, was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

Friday 6th March

9.30pm – Tasked by Air Desk to a single vehicle accident at Te Haroto. Low cloud in the vicinity of the accident prevented the helicopter reaching the incident. The patients were transported by road ambulance.

Saturday 7th March

10.45am – Tasked by Air Desk to Mt Erin in Havelock North to a female competitor participating in the Triple Peaks fundraiser. The competitor was complaining of chest pain. She was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

1.45pm – Tasked by Air Desk to a farm at Putorino to a teenage male who fell from a farm vehicle injuring his shoulder and hip. He was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

6.30pm – Tasked by Police to conduct a search for a boat that was reportedly overturned off the coast between Ocean Beach and Waimarama. After searching unsuccessfully for an hour without any sighting of an overturned boat or debris the search was abandoned and the helicopter returned to base.
