Hastings Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon cancelled due to changes in alert levels

The Hastings Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon set to be held at Mitre 10 Park on Tuesday has been cancelled due to changes in Covid-19 alert levels.

The decision, sent to parents and guardians of those entered, came almost as soon as Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield announced Auckland will move to Covid-19 alert level three, and the rest of the country to alert level two from 11.59 tonight for three days.

Level two restrictions mean gatherings are restricted to 100 people.

"Hi Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon guardian. Unfortunately due to the re-emergence of COVID-19 in the Auckland community we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Hastings TRYathlon. We are very disappointed at not being able to hold the event but the health and safety of the community is our first priority," a message sent to parents and guardians said.

"An email containing further details has been sent to participants tonight," it said.

More to come.
