St Leonards Park in Hastings back in action

The Western Rangers Football Club is one group that is pleased to see St Leonards Park in Hastings back in action for their first home game of the season this Sunday.

The park has undergone a major turf upgrade with about 6000 cubic metres of new soil brought in and spread over the playing field that has also had new grass sown.

The upgrade was needed to level and improve the surface of the playing field, and the Hastings District Council has also installed new pop-up irrigation to conserve water and ensure a quality grass surface over the summer months.

Club spokesperson Dee Withers said St Leonards was home to Western Rangers who were looking forward to getting back on their home grounds after being temporarily displaced for the start of the season.

"The grounds look great and we are excited to have our women's team play the first home game for the season on the 28th of April against Eskview as part of the Central Football Women's League,” Dee said.

"The council has been great with keeping the club informed and making alternative grounds available to us for training."
