Strong wind warning for parts of Hawke’s Bay
MetService has issued a strong wind warning for Hawke’s Bay south of Napier.
The warning is valid for the 33 hours from 3pm today until midnight tomorrow.
MetService’s forecast for the region is for west to northwest gales gusting 120 km/h in exposed places from this afternoon through to overnight tonight.
Strong westerlies are expected to persist tomorrow, and they may approach severe gale strength in exposed places.
Strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
