Time to light up Napier!

The CBD will have a fun art installation from 12-30 October in the green space between Market Street and Emerson Street.

Napier City Business Inc, Napier City Council l in association with local artist Vesica Aotearoa director and designer Anthony Van Dorsten bring you ‘Full Spectrum’ an installation to celebrate "light at the end of the tunnel, diversity and celebration".

General Manager of Napier City Business Inc, Pip Thompson, agrees with this sentiment ‘“We always need more fun in our lives and art is a wonderful way to bring this to ‘light’ in our community. We continue to experience some trying times with the ongoing effects of Covid-19, and we believe this interactive art piece not only will light up our CBD for 3 weeks it will bring lots of smiles and joy to our locals”.

Full Spectrum is made up of seven 2.5m hexagonal sculptures, incorporating pixel mapping, musical sounds and lighting animation.

"It was born out of a love for passageway installations, pixel mapping technology and big bright colours, the piece started as a dream," Anthony says.

The installation will be up as part of the Harcourt’s Hawkes Bay Arts Festival free community night Nuit Blanche - Art after Dark where some streets will be closed around Napier’s arts quarter, galleries, hospitality, food trucks will be open, music and street performers plus DJ’s and and projection, lasers will light up the CBD landscape on Saturday 17 October 6-10pm.
