Total cases rises to 797 - 89 new cases today. 3 more in Hawke's Bay

In todays update from Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield he has announced that there are 89 new cases made up of 76 confirmed cases and 13 probable cases.

This brings the total cases in New Zealand to 797 with 92 that have recovered. 13 people are still in Hospital with 2 in ICU. 

3 new Covid 19 cases for Hawke’s Bay, total cases now 19 in the region.

There have been a furth 2563 tests today which brings the total amount of tests to 26000. Bloomfeild says they can process more than 4000 cases per day, He said that there are eight labs in new zealand with more starting in the coming days.

Police Commissioner Mike Bush thanked the New Zealanders who are complying with the lockdown rules. but said there are still people who are not complying.

More police staff have been deployed to encourage people to stay at home, if that does not help there will be an enforcement follow up

Today is Bush's last day in his role as Commissioner – he said he was "extremely proud" of the front line staff helping with the Covid-19 response.

He confirmed he would be continuing in his role in the Covid-19 committee.
