What's on this October at The Globe Theatrette

While movie releases are being shifted, added and pulled on a daily basis at the moment (a result of the tumultuous situation in overseas territories), we still managed to line up a pretty darn good array of films this month – can’t wait to share them with you!

Based on Jo Brand’s bestselling book, THE MORE YOU IGNORE ME (M, 8 Oct) is a story about how mental illness can wreak havoc within a family – but can also, strangely, make you grow closer together. It’s tragic, funny, rude, honest, and has a nostalgia-inducing soundtrack by The Smiths.

If you’re into the arts, you’ll love our Italy-themed docos in October: The latest installment of the excellent Arts On Screen series takes a look at Italian Renaissance painter TINTORETTO (E, 17 Oct) and his depictions of Venice; and with its mix of concert footage and behind-the-scenes material,

THREE TENORS: VOICES FOR ETERNITY (E, 24 Oct) is a cinematic event celebrating the genius of the Three Tenors. Viva Italia!

Speaking of documentaries: I AM GRETA (E, 16 Oct) takes an in-depth look at how exactly a young, Swedish student called Greta Thunberg became the reluctant climate activist hero of her generation. Inspiring on so many levels.

Or, if you’re in the mood for something fun and light-hearted, check out Kiwi comedy BABY, DONE (M, 22 Oct) starring the inimitable Rose Matafeo as a pregnant lady with doubts about parenthood; or Australian comedy RAMS (PG, 29 Oct) featuring Sam Neill as a grumpy sheep farmer – the role of his lifetime, if you’re asking us.
