Winter F.A.W.C! is coming to CHB’s newest food and wine destination

Central Hawke’s Bay is set to host four Winter F.A.W.C! events this year with Wallingford Homestead’s ‘Cooking Safari’ being held across four Saturdays in June.

F.A.W.C! is a delicious event series of "out of the box" food and wine experiences, set in stunning landscapes and locations throughout Hawke's Bay.

This year’s Winter F.A.W.C! programme will be the largest in the event’s seven-year history, with more than 65 events planned.

Wallingford Homestead’s Chris Stockdale – a highly acclaimed chef and the man behind the award-winning Little Jean in Double Bay, Sydney along with wife Jeanette – have transformed Wallingford into a unique and exciting new food and wine destination in Central Hawke’s Bay.

‘Cooking Safari’ is a fantastic opportunity for them to share their talents as well as Wallingford’s garden, farm and trufflery with others who have a passion for food and wine.

Chris and Jeanette will lead guests through a delicious four-course tasting menu and a splash of four delicious local wines.

Each course is prepared utilising the beautiful Wallingford gardens and surrounds, with guests collecting edible goodies from the garden, trufflery and farmland.

You will help chop, bake, salt, fry, sauté, churn, braise and ‘fire and ice’. Your cooking safari will conclude with you enjoying the treats of your foraging and learnings in the kitchen.

Chris and Jeanette relocated from Sydney to Wallingford, twenty minutes south of Waipukurau, late last year and in a very short time, they have generated a lot of attention as visitors experience the ‘new’ Wallingford.

For the ultimate weekend, guests attending Cooking Safari are invited to consider making a weekend of it and staying on at Wallingford, a beautiful historic homestead. Sit by the open fire, enjoy a glass of wine, and another delicious meal prepared by Chris.

Cooking Safari runs on June 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 11am – 2.30pm. For tickets and full information about Cooking Safari, visit www.fawc.co.nz.
