Another win for Taradale women's footballers

It was Wembley Park in Whanganui ... not Wembley Stadium in London.

But it didn't matter ... Taradale Women's Federation Cup football side (pictured above) secured first equal spot in their competition yesterday with a 2-1 victory against Whanganui. Taradale took a while to fire after their long bus ride and conceded an early goal.

Following some polished build up from the entire team 14-year-old Olivia Harding opened Taradale's account just before the halftime whistle. This was Harding's first goal at this level.

The second half was another even tussle and player-coach Aleesha Heywood scored the winning goal for Taradale. Ella Simmonds was the player-of-the-match for the visitors.

Taradale are first equal with Palmerston North Marist, the side they beat in their previous match. Palmerston North Marist have also played one extra game.
