Hawkes Bay were host to the National League A grade finals over the weekend 26-28 March.

Fantastic canoe polo was on display at the Mitre 10 Park Hawkes Bay Canoe Polo Facility.

The new Home of Hawkes Bay Canoe Polo has allowed for some national tournaments to finally be bought to our region and the teams over the weekend came from Christchurch right up to Auckland.

Open A grade was taken out by Expose, a team of players from Hawkes Bay, Rotorua, Palmerston North and Masterton. In a very hard fought game with Hornets from Auckland. Women’s A grade was won by Nemisis, a Christchurch based women’s team who played an equally close game against Generation-Y, a team of players from Hawkes Bay, Horowhenua and Christchurch.

“It’s been a long time coming for Hawkes Bay to be able to host a national league tournament in our region and something we are proud to be able to offer now. It means that some of our members get a bit of a break from travel through the year and we get to demonstrate a high level of polo for the young member base we have here, something they enjoy watching and strive to reach in their future canoe polo careers”. - Kelly Hepburn.
