New vehicle steam clean service kills 99.9% of bacteria
Hawke’s Bay’s first commercial vehicle steam cleaning service can eliminate up to 700 different strains of bacteria that live inside vehicles.
Go Car Clean has been set up by local businessman Gary Singh at Bay Plaza in Hastings.
The steam cleaning machine cleans both the inside and outside of vehicles. Mr Singh says with the spotlight on hygiene due to COVID 19, steam cleaning can kill up to 99.9 percent of all bacteria and germs.
“Your steering wheel is the top place for germs and a deep steam clean of surfaces will help prevent the spread of any bacteria.
Steam has a temperature of over 100 degrees C at normal atmospheric pressure and pressurised steam used by detailing services is even hotter. No bacteria or viruses can survive those temperatures. A steam clean of a car interior will disinfect most of it and steam can easily dislodge embedded dirt as well, making it easier to brush the surfaces and clean up.
Mr Singh initially bought the equipment for his commercial cleaning business The Clean Crew to be used for COVID19 sanitisation cleans for commercial offices.
“The machine is primarily for vehicle cleaning. Like many people, I realised that my car wasn’t the most hygienic. As a family we are always on the go and we are constantly in and out of the car.
“When I realised how many germs live in our cars, I decided to use the machine for its main use, steam cleaning vehicles.
Mr Singh said the other appealing difference with a steam clean is the minimal environmental footprint with just four litres of water used instead of 100 litres on average when cleaning a car at home.
“We also don’t use any harmful cleaning chemicals, which then don’t end up in our waterways.
Go Car Clean is now open at Bay Plaza carpark in Hastings.
