15th National Waiata Māori Music Awards

When: Friday 9 September 2022 7:30pm – 10:00pm

Where: Toitoi - Hawke's Bay Arts & Events Centre, 101 Hastings Street South, Hastings

What: The 15th National Waiata Māori Music Awards seeks to develop, encourage and honour the achievements of outstanding traditional and contemporary musical compositions and performances annually. This is the most prestigious music award ever to acknowledge our Māori Composers.Performances this year include Hāni Dread, Creative Nātives, Che Fu & DLT. VIP tickets include the Red Carpet Extravaganza at 5.30 pm, the Waiata Māori Music Awards at 7.30 pm and the After Function at 10 pm.

National Theatre Live – Henry V

Where: MTG Century Theatre, 9 Herschell Street, Napier

What: Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) plays the title role in Shakespeare’s thrilling study of nationalism, war, and the psychology of power. Fresh to the throne, King Henry V launches England into a bloody war with France. When his campaign encounters resistance, this inexperienced new ruler must prove he is fit to guide a country into war. Captured live from the Donmar Warehouse in London, this exciting modern production directed by Max Webster (Life of Pi) explores what it means to be English and their relationship to Europe, asking: do we ever get the leaders we deserve? 3 hours runtime.

Sea Mouse - Evil Heart Tour

Where: Paisley Stage, Napier

What:This Spring Sea Mouse are taking their electrifying show around New Zealand on a 8 date nationwide tour following the release of their latest EP, ‘Evil Heart’.

Known for a hard-hitting sound drenched in rock and blues, Sea Mouse will be featuring the music from their recent release ‘Evil Heart’. This new collection of music favors a grittier approach that combines classic blues stylings and modern garage fuzz tones.

With an original take on rock ‘n’ roll, Sea Mouse formed in 2017. Creating a unique blend of sounds from the Delta blues of the 1930s, to mammoth guitar-driven garage rock tunes, with hooks big enough to snag a whale. Sea Mouse are all about hard-hitting, well-hewn, rock anthems.

Pukehou Trail Run

When: Sunday 11 September 2022 9:30am – 2:00pm

Where: Kahotea Farm, 269 Drumpeel Road, Pukehou

What:  We have a great family event coming up called the Pukehou Trail Run. It’s a fundraising event for a local School and our third year running. 

We have a trail run (5, 10 or 20km) as well as a kids colour run. The local fire brigade turn up to wet everyone down the epic slide at the beginning before the obstacles along the colour run. The trail run is a scenic track on private farm land. There is a coffee cart, food and a bouncy castle as well.

What Nothing heralds the beginning of spring more than a field of daffodils, so it is with great pleasure that the Mabin family open Taniwha Daffodils for a limited season this Spring 2022. Bring your own bucket, pack a picnic and stroll through thousands of daffodils in bloom, select your own bunch to take home or simply enjoy the sight of 20 acres of stunning colour. Pick your own daffodils for $7.50 per 30 stems, or purchase a limited supply of pre-picked bunches.

Taniwha Daffodils is a part of Central Hawke’s Bay Spring Fling. The Spring Fling is a series of standout events through September and October, capturing the essence of springtime in Central Hawke’s Bay!
