Container truck rolls on State Highway 51, Napier
A driver managed to escape relatively unscathed after his truck and trailer left the road and overturned earlier this afternoon on State Highway 51.
But the incident caused the closure of the southern-bound lane between Marine Parade and Awatoto Rd for two hours as contractors worked to remove the truck.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 1pm and found the truck, which had been carrying a shipping container, had crashed through the wire barrier on the seaward side of the road and come to rest on its side between two trees.
Traffic diversions had been put in place along Ellison St.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said one patient received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
