Electrical fault believed to be cause of Te Mata Four Square fire

An electrical fault involving an air conditioning unit is believed to have caused a small fire at Te Mata Four Square.

Three fire appliances from Havelock North and Hastings were called to the store at 5.25pm this evening.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand Hawke's Bay District Manager Ken Cooper said it was "quite a small incident".

"It is believed to be an electrical fire involving an air conditioning unit in the roof void."

Crews had extinguished the fire by 6.30pm. FENZ will now conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire.
