Farmers' Market gets new temporary home

Civic Square in Hastings is the new temporary location for the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market from this Sunday.

The Tōmoana Showgrounds has been requisitioned as an emergency food and supplies distribution hub to support communities severely impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle, rendering it unavailable for a few weeks for the market.

The market will continue to offer fresh and locally produced fruits and vegetables, meats, artisanal cheeses, and baked goods. Many stallholders have been impacted by the recent floods and are very excited to be back at the market at the new temporary location, Kaye Pratt, Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market Chairperson says.

“Many of our stallholders sell the vast majority of their produce and products at the markets each Sunday, so the news of our temporary move to Civic Square has been very welcome.”

“We are committed to continuing to offer our community the opportunity to purchase quality local produce, and we are grateful to the Hastings District Council for their assistance in securing a new location for the market.”

“The new location at Civic Square will provide an enjoyable and convenient shopping experience for everyone whilst we are unable to use the showgrounds and thank everyone for their ongoing support.”

Market hours are 8.30am – 12.30pm.
