Final days to register for early payment of $230 power dividend

About 15 per cent of eligible power consumers in the region are yet to register for the upcoming direct credit payment of the annual Hawke’s Bay Power Consumers’ Trust dividend.

The dividend of $230 after tax will be paid to every power account holder in Napier and Hastings, but only if they register for direct credit by 5pm tomorrow, November 19.

Trust Chair Diana Kirton says a lot of people have already registered but they don’t want anyone to miss out on the $230 they are entitled to.

“The information we have to date shows there are still a reasonable number of consumers who have not registered for direct credit yet. We are encouraging everyone to not only ensure they are registered but to look out for friends and whānau who may need help with the registration process."

About 62,000 power consumers in Napier and Hastings are eligible for it. Kirton says they have heard of instances where people have helped elderly family members or friends to register.

"The 0800 535 738 number has absolutely run hot and they're able to facilitate the registration process for people." While she acknowledged at times the line was particularly busy, she urged people to keep trying as there are peaks and troughs in times of day that people access it."

Kirton says the money is a "welcome" input into people's bank accounts just before Christmas.

“Power consumers need to register by Friday 19 November to receive the dividend payment into their bank accounts from November.”

How to Register:
Every power account holder has now been contacted directly by email, text or post with instructions on how to register as well as their unique 4-digit code. To register for direct credit, consumers will need their: unique 4-digit code, ICP Number (found on your power bill) and bank account details.

All information is available on the Trust website: www.hbpct.co.nz. For those who can’t get online, information and support to register is available on 0800 535 738.
