Man charged following assault of woman and six-month-old child
A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the assault of a woman and infant over the weekend.
Police were called to a hotel along Marine Parade, Napier on Saturday evening following a report of an assault.
A 24-year-old woman and a six-month-old girl both required medical attention and were taken to hospital.
A police spokeswoman said the woman was discharged later on Saturday evening and the infant was discharged the following day.
"The victims and alleged offender are understood to be known to each other."
The 45-year-old man is due to appear in Wellington District Court on Wednesday, December 15 on charges relating to assault with intent to injure and intent to injure with reckless disregard.
