Pan Pac Hawke’s Bay Business Awards celebrate local success

A leading e-commerce platform, a start-up, a supermarket and two cafes were recognised at this year's Pan Pac Hawke's Bay Business Awards.

Held at Functions on Hastings, Toitoi on Friday and presented by the Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce, the annual awards celebrate resilience, community connections, innovation, tourism, leadership, emerging business, and sustainability.

There were five category winners announced on the night as well as a Leader of the Year and the overall Supreme Award winner. Brands.co.nz won the EIT Excellence in Innovation and the Pan Pac Supreme Award.

A Hawke's Bay Chamber of Commerce spokeswoman said the supreme award recognises Brands’ sustainable business growth and performance, promoting a culture of care and engagement with staff and the local community while building one of New Zealand’s leading e-Commerce platforms.

The Hawke's Bay company started out as The Brand Outlet in 2013 - operating pop-up stores across New Zealand - before launching an online store in 2016.

Te Wai Mauri Limited (environmental trust) won Best Emerging Business, while Outstanding Community Contribution went to Pak'nSave Tamatea and Excellence in Sustainability went to Hapī Ora cafe. Birdwoods Cafe and Gallery won Ultimate Visitor Experience and Dr Mark Peterson won Leader of the Year.

"Celebrating success has a broader reach than simply receiving an award. Recognising the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of the people behind local businesses can have positive repercussions throughout the community," the spokeswoman said.

She thanked all the businesses who entered the Pan Pac Hawke’s Bay Business Awards this year. "With so many high-quality applications, the judging process was competitive."

"The gratitude expressed in speeches throughout the evening was really moving and it was beautiful to hear that we have touched so many lives."
