Pedestrian dies after crash with truck on State Highway 50, Maraekakaho
A pedestrian has died after a crash involving a truck on State Highway 50, Maraekakaho.
Emergency services were called to the incident just after 6pm last night.
A police spokesperson said initial indications are the person who died may have been unloading equipment from another truck when the collision occurred.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency confirmed SH50 remains closed between Tikokino and Maraekakaho.
Detours have been set up for Northbound traffic via Butler Rd and Tikokino Rd, and Southbound via Maraekakaho Rd.
Police say an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
