Sting to play Mission Estate Winery Concert in March 2023

Sting is set to return to The Mission Estate Winery in Hawke’s Bay as part of a two-date visit to New Zealand in March.

The British rock star and former Police frontman will play at the Napier winery on Saturday, March 4 for his only North Island performance. He will play at the Christchurch Arena three days earlier on March 1, as part of his ‘My Songs’ World Tour.

It will be the second time he has played at the venue after performing on the winery's famed paddock in 2011, backed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

This time, he will be accompanied by an electric rock ensemble, and his son, Joe Sumner, an accomplished artist in his own right, will also feature.

Mission Concert producer James Erskine, who is the Sports and Entertainment Ltd chairman, said it was a rare treat to announce a second superstar artist for 2023.

"We're thrilled that Sting is returning to our venue. It's testament to the fact that artists love this event as much as fans do," Erskine said.

Phil Hocquard, Chairman of the Mission, said: "It's an absolute coup to secure such an iconic artist for our 30th year celebrations. We look forward to seeing everyone back at our amazing venue."

The announcement comes just weeks after it was revealed Robbie Williams is also set to headline a Mission Concert next year.

William's November 2023 show sold out within hours of tickets going on sale last month which led to a second show being booked.

The Mission Concert boasts a proud history of presenting artists including Rod Stewart, Elton John, Sting, Phil Collins and many more since 1993.

Tickets will go on sale to concert club members at 10am on Tuesday, October 18 at www.missionconcert.co.nz
