Thousands flock to the 2022 Hawke's Bay A&P Show

Organisers of the 2022 Hawke’s Bay A&P Show have hailed it a success, with thousands of people attending the three day event. 

Hawke’s Bay A&P Society General Manager Elisha Milmine thanked all whi made the event possible after a two year hiatus due to Covid-19.

"We are extremely thankful to the staff, sponsors, supporters, volunteers and community who all played their part in making this year’s Hawke’s Bay A&P Show, a fun filled memorable experience for all involved.

"After two years it was fabulous to see everyone enjoying themselves. Society members were sharing memories about the days gone by and past Show experiences."

The Hawke’s Bay A&P Show is one of four major events the Hawke’s Bay A&P Society holds annually to showcase and support the region's primary sectors.

Hastings Boys Cultural Group performed a powhiri to officially open the Show.

This was followed by the Fonterra breakfast which Primary school students enjoyed before participating in the Education programme on Wednesday.

On Thursday, high school students attended and worked through a fun and educational schedule. 

Friday was attended by the wider community with thousands enjoying all that the show had to offer.

It brought town and country together, packed with all the attractions and entertainment for which it is renowned.

Mahons Carnival was jam packed with a mix of those after an adrenalin hit on the Hurricane, and others that enjoyed a tamer ride on the merry-go-round. 

The laughter and screaming could be heard echoing throughout the Tomoana, Showgrounds. 

There were a variety of competitions including Virtual Beef Cattle, Carriage Driving, Dairy Goats, Dog Trials, Donkeys, Dressage, Fencing, Pigs, Poultry, Sheep & Fleece, Shearing, Equestrian Showing, Show Hunter, Show Jumping, World Cup Equestrian Class, Best of the Bay Beef and Export Lamb.

With hundreds of interesting and quality trade exhibits for people after a bit of shopping, with anything from tractors to glasshouses and everything between, there was a great selection and on off discounts available for Show shoppers.
