Two people die in crash on State Highway 2, Poukawa
Two people have died following a crash on State Highway 2, Poukawa earlier this afternoon.
Police were called to the two-vehicle crash at 2:32pm.
"Two people sadly died at the scene. A third person received critical injuries," a police spokesperson said.
"The Serious Crash Unit are in attendance, and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."
The road remains closed, with detours are in place on State Highway 50.
A Hato Hone St John Ambulance spokesperson said they responded with two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an operations manager.
"We treated and transported two patients to Hawke’s Bay Hospital – one in a critical condition and one in a minor condition."
